The 2023 Nissan X-Trail is now available with e-Power technology.
The Nissan X.Trail 2023 e-Power arrives. You can tell how important a region is to a car manufacturer by how long it takes to bring a given model there. The Rogue was introduced in the United States in June 2020, but it wasn’t until July of this year that the X-Trail equivalent made its debut in Japan. Now it’s Europe’s turn to get the midsize SUV, complete with three rows of seats, optional all-wheel drive, and an electrified powertrain with a three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine or as we in road cars call it non-plug-in electric. Looking as familiar on the inside as it is on the outside, the X-Trail destined for the Old World is big enough to accommodate passengers up to 160 centimeters tall in the third-row seats.
As for the second-row bench, it has a 60-40 split configuration and can slide forward to make it easier for people to access the third row. With the seats attached, cargo capacity is 585 liters or 20 liters more than its predecessor. The combustion engine we mentioned earlier called e-Power doesn’t actually drive the wheels. Instead, the 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit is used to generate the electrical power needed for the battery, which is then fed to the electric motor.
This method leads Nissan to say that the 2023 X-Trail behaves much like an electric vehicle, delivering its full 330 Newton-meters (243 pound-feet) of torque virtually instantly. That electric motor is good for 201 horsepower, making it possible to go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in eight seconds.
Nissan will also sell the X-Trail with All Wheel Drive by installing an electric motor on each axle for a combined power of 210 Horses. In the 4-wheel drive configuration, the SUV will complete the sprint in 7 seconds for the five-seat model and 7.2 seconds for the seven-seat model. Not that many people care about top speed when buying such a vehicle, but the single-engine configuration reaches a top speed of 170 km/h while the dual-engine configuration allows for a top speed of 180 km/h. h. If that powertrain sounds too complicated, there’s also a simpler 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology.
Equipped with a variable compression ratio, it sends power to the wheels with 161 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque going exclusively to the front wheels via a CBT box as there is no 4-wheel drive option on this version. Elsewhere, it’s the same Rogue we’re all familiar with, with a 12.3-inch driver’s display and the same-size touchscreen infotainment. Outside, the body is available in 10 colors, along with five two-tone shades. Already available to order in select European markets, the 2023 X-Trail starts at €38,080 in Italy, where it is offered in four trim levels.
