Subaru introduced the new Impreza at the Los Angeles Auto Show a few months ago, and now it’s trying to spice up the hatchback with a 2024 Subaru Impreza variety with STI trim. Unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, the concept car is painted in Sunblaze Pearl and looks more aggressive thanks to the subtle body kit. Please note that this is not a full version of the STI, as Subaru Tecnica International has just begun work on an update for the sixth generation model.
The most obvious change comes at the rear, where the 2024 Subaru Impreza gets mid-mounted twin exhaust tips, giving it a sportier appearance. The JDM-spec car rides on black STI-branded alloy wheels and has a redesigned roof spoiler.
The rear bumper has also received some winglets in an attempt to give the compact hatch a more muscular look. You’ll also notice brighter side skirts finished in gloss black to match the STI’s other additions, including the front spoiler lip and the lip above the fog lights. That was it for now, as Subaru didn’t say anything about possible hardware changes. There could be a sportier suspension setup, and ideally some extra breather is planned.
To freshen us up, the US-spec 2024 Impreza. The US had a base 2.0-liter engine producing 152 hp (113 kW) and 145 lb-ft (197 Nm), but could be upgraded to a 2.5-liter with 182 hp (136 Nm). kW) and 178 pound-feet (241 Nm). Subaru says the Japanese version is based on a 2.0-liter hybrid system with all-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
For now, it’s just STI’s timid attempt to inject enthusiasm into the latest Impreza. New parts are in the works, and we expect Subaru’s performance department to plan some mechanical upgrades to go along with these visual enhancements. The hot hatch will fill that void thanks to the upcoming WRX STI version.
